Knew House’s word of the year is Resiliency. How have you portrayed resiliency in your life and business this past year? Wolseley Kombucha started off as a side-hustle while I was working full time so resilience was engraved in me early on in my entrepreneurship journey. 2022 was the hardest year for Wolseley Kombucha as the ripple effects from the pandemic set in. For me, resilience means growing my team so I have support, it means thinking outside the box when it comes to sales and marketing, and it means taking care of myself so I can be the best I can be at work and at home. Every hurdle is an opportunity to grow, learn, and be better.
We are at the beginning of a new year, which is often associated with fresh starts, and goals. Do you have any big plans or new and exciting projects for 2023? 2023 is going to be one for the books! I'm working on the business plan for Wolseley Kombucha 4.0 - which will include a bigger production space, a boozy line of hard kombucha, and broader distribution as we expand into Safeway and Sobeys in Manitoba, and beyond.
What are you happy to leave behind in 2022? BURN OUT! I'm happy to leave behind working 12 hours a day all week! One of the biggest lessons I learned this year was the importance of self-care, rest, and integration.
Do you have any words of wisdom for business owners going into the new year? The start of a New Year is always a good time to reflect and set goals; but know that each month or even each day is an opportunity to start over, set goals and reflect. Don't wait for your dream life - you are with it.
