Given your experience working with entrepreneurs and business owners at Strategic Coach, are you seeing any trends or commonalities in how they are feeling going into the new year? There's been an incredible shift that has happened with our entrepreneurial community over this last quarter - an exhale. Resilience is undoubtedly a core component of an entrepreneur's DNA. By nature, entrepreneurs have an inherent ability to take periods of uncertainty and create brilliant moments of opportunity. During the last few years there was a real (and necessary) focus on playing defense, on protecting the confidence of themselves and the people around them while still creating tremendous value in the marketplace. Lately, we're seeing a real mindset shift to playing offense - how to take all the lessons and learning and transform it into new innovation. Conversations have been less about protecting and stabilizing - and more about how to be value creation leaders going forward. How to CHANGE the game rather than PLAY the game. It's electrifying.

What is your opinion on setting new year’s resolutions? Do you think they work? Yes... and no. I often feel like "resolutions" are born out of feeling like you NEED to change something. There can be guilt, comparison, or unhappiness attached to it. It feels like setting a goal but attaching an anchor to it. Instead, at the start of each year I imagine what I WANT ... what would make me feel happy about my progress at the end of the year - I connect to what motivates and energizes me. Then, I work back to create a clear, measurable set of projects and goals. I review this each quarter, and track my progress, regroup, and plan next steps. Two tips... I give myself permission to course correct - to change my mind, and I don't set goals where I can't be fully in control of the outcome - I've learned my lesson here (a few times - LOL).

Do you have any words of wisdom for busy women going into the holidays? Put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others with theirs.

What is your favorite part about the winter season/end of the year? The feelings: gratitude, togetherness, renewal, reflection, possibility.
